AHA Provider Card: To become an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Instructor, you must first hold a valid AHA BLS Provider Card.  Ensure your certification is valid at the time of your Instructor class; expired certifications are not accepted. Non-AHA certifications, such as from the Red Cross, are not valid for AHA Instructor training.

2. Training Center Approval: You need to align with an authorized AHA Training Center or Training Site. When you take a class with us, you will automatically be aligned with Falcon CPR Training, providing you with a supportive community of fellow instructors.

Step #1: Obtain a Valid AHA BLS Provider Card

Step #2: Complete the AHA Online Instructor Essentials Course

- The cost of this online course is typically included in the Instructor course.

- You'll need the appropriate Instructor Manual as the online course asks specific questions referencing charts and materials found in the manual.

- After completing the online course, a certificate will be issued. You must bring this certificate with you on the first day of your Instructor course. You can purchase the AHA Instructor Manual directly from AHA.

Step #3: Attend the CPR Instructor Course

- The official CPR Instructor course typically spans 5-8 hours.

- At the end of the course, you'll need to take a 25-question written exam that covers the content from both the online and in-person portions of the course. A passing score is 84% or higher.

Step #4: Teach a Class While Being Monitored

- Within 90 days of completing the CPR Instructor course, you must teach a class under the supervision of your Instructor or another AHA Training Center Faculty member.

- Schedule the monitoring session as soon as possible to keep your skills fresh.

- During the monitoring session, your teaching skills will be evaluated. Upon successful completion, you will receive your CPR Instructor certification within 2 business days.

CPR Instructor Course Tests & Certificates:

- Candidates are required to complete a 25-question written exam that covers content from both the online and in-person portions of the course, with a passing score of 84%.

- After passing the course, you will receive your CPR Instructor certification within 1 business day.
