Step #1: Obtain a Valid AHA BLS Provider Card
Ensure your AHA BLS Provider card is current and issued by the AHA. Cards from other organizations are not accepted.

Step #2: Complete the AHA Online Instructor Essentials Course
Take the required online course (usually included in the Instructor course fee). You’ll need the Instructor Manual for reference. After completion, bring your certificate on the first day of class.

Step #3: Attend the CPR Instructor Course
Complete the 5-8 hour in-person course and pass a 25-question exam with at least 84%.

Step #4: Teach a Monitored Class
Within 90 days, teach a class under supervision. Schedule it early to retain skills. Upon approval, you’ll receive your CPR Instructor certification within 2 business days.
